This piece recalls the advertising campaigns for "feminine hygene" products during previous wars. They often utilized the language and imagery of combat as an analogy for menses. Concealment, camouflage, security, protection... these continue to be buzz words the industry uses to market menstrual products and patriotism.

The slogan on the label, "isolation of the military from civilian forces is not in the interest of this nation" is paraphrased from a statement issued by the United Service Organization directly after the war in Vietnam, when support for the USO decreased.

This edition of 1000 depicts Mariah Carey and Pamela Anderson during their recent activities for the USO.
